Do you have a background in servers (Win, Linux or VMware) as an SME along with some experience of AWS or Azure cloud technologies along with IT infrastructure, virtualisation and vulnerability patching?
Here at ARM we are recruiting for a full time permanent Server System Engineer for a global IT services and consultancy client of ours.

Overview:
Responsible for the day to day running of the customer environment, ensuring the infrastructure and all its components are running and are working as expected. Triage and resolution of customer faults with support from the wider team as required. Support Senior Engineers with the planning and implementation of project activities.
Systems administration and vulnerability remediation in an SME capacity of either Windows/AD/Azure, Linux, VMware, and/or AWS.
Responsibilities:
Request Management + customer service-
1. Pick up and take ownership of customer requests, complying to the relevant processes.
2. Analyse and build servers per the build specification.
3. Meet or exceed the customer SLA.
4. Effective communication to the customer and within the team.
Infrastructure-
1. A thorough understanding of IT infrastructure & IT ideologies and the interaction between physical and virtual layers.
2. Monitoring and identifying issues, owning through to resolution whilst working with the wider team when required.
3. Proactively identifying improvements for the infrastructure configuration.
Operating systems and software configuration-
1. Multiple OS exposure, in-depth experience of at least one.
2. In-depth experience in administering virtualisation/hypervisor software.
3. Developing understanding and experience of cloud computing administration.
4. Identify and undertake software or operating systems installations and upgrades.
5. Develop scripts and processes to aid day-to-day activities, automating and streamlining wherever possible.
6. Gain or hold relevant accreditations (e.g. Microsoft MCSA, Azure Administrator).
Security-
1. In-depth knowledge of the potential threats to IT environments from internal and external influences, weak adherence to security protocols & human error.
2. Proactively (and as a team) protect customer environments from vulnerabilities utilising tools such as patching.
Change control-
1. Complete understanding of the reasons underpinning change control, adhering to all required processes.
2. Support the team by creating change requests, adhering to customer best practice.
3. Implement and execute changes, as required and per process.
Asset Management-
1. Maintain asset documentation with additions, decommissions & updates to ensure that the scope of support for our customers is understood, accurate & kept up to date.
