About Us
Clark Woodward Hungate & Co. Limited are Loss Adjusters and Surveyors specialising in Freight Liability and Marine Cargo Insurance. We are seeking a skilled finance professional to join our team, overseeing daily financial transactions and contributing to financial reporting and compliance. In this role, you will work closely with the director and play an essential part in the internal finance function.
Key Responsibilities - Finance
* Transaction Management: Oversee daily financial transactions, including invoice approvals in Dext and managing accounts payable/receivable processes.
* Financial Reporting: Prepare financial statements, monthly management accounts, and customised reports for the director’s review.
* Account Reconciliation: Conduct reconciliations for current, client holding, multi-currency, and VAT accounts.
* Payroll Processing: Ensure accurate payroll processing, tax compliance, and timely payment of wages.
* Cash Flow and Forecasting: Manage cash flow forecasts and budgets, tracking and maintaining departmental expense records.
* Month-End and Year-End Close: Support month-end and year-end closings, ensuring accuracy in financial records and management accounts.
* Audit and Compliance: Ensure compliance with financial policies, assist in audit preparation, and coordinate with external auditors.
* Process Improvement: Identify and implement efficiencies to enhance financial accuracy and performance.
Key Qualifications and Skills
* Experience: 3-5 years in finance administration or accounting, with hands-on experience in transaction management and financial reporting.
* Technical Skills: Proficient in Xero, Dext, and advanced Excel.
* Certifications: AAT Qualification preferred.
Key Responsibilities - HR
* Assist with day-to-day HR operations including recruitment.
* Prepare HR documents, such as employment contracts and new hire guides.
* Maintain employee records, including holiday leave and absenteeism.
* Respond to internal HR-related enquiries or requests.
* Schedule interviews and coordinate communication with candidates.
* Support the implementation of HR initiatives and systems.

* Attention to Detail: High level of accuracy in data entry and financial record maintenance.
