KEY AREAS FOR THE CLIMATE AND ENERGY PILLAR IN 2024 The Climate Change Group convenes members to assess and understand climate science and energy policy, help improve the industry’s performance and help stakeholders understand the role of oil and gas in driving the energy transition and supporting a net-zero future. Additionally, the Fuels and Products Working Group monitors and contributes to international fuels and products developments relating to technical, health, safety and environmental issues impacting or impacted by global fuels specifications and product quality. RESPONSIBILITIES The Climate and Energy Manager will be part of the Ipieca climate team. In this role, the successful candidate will primarily provide support to Ipieca’s Climate Change Group, Fuels and Products Working Group and Alternative Energy Task Force. This role will involve a wide range of tasks covering the spectrum of issues e.g., exploring low-emissions and net-zero emissions pathways, emissions management, improving reporting and corporate performance and advancing fuels and products. The manager will support the Climate Change Group as well as Fuels and Products and Alternative Energy in the delivery of each group’s annual business plans. More specifically, this will include: Primarily supporting the Climate Change Group and related task forces by coordinating and liaising with stakeholders, consultants and members to facilitate the timely development of guidance, reports and publications and other items on the business plan such as proof-reading materials, conducting research on relevant topics, coordinating reviews etc. Organising and supporting (virtual) meetings, webinars and external workshops, including logistics, preparatory work (presentations, agendas and pre-reads), taking minutes and following up on action pointsWorking with the Communications team and climate change coordinator to keep website content up-to-date, develop internal and external communication materials as well as contributing to Ipieca’s activities on social media Keeping members informed of Climate Change Group activities and required actions as well as identifying and sharing of relevant external resources related to Working Group issues; coordinating and responding to member queriesAnalysing data such as member survey results, member participation etc. Monitoring, and at times attending, relevant external events and providing follow-up briefings on content and trendsCarrying out ad-hoc tasks as they arise to support other Ipieca activities NECESSARY QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE Bachelor’s degree in an environmental-related subject – minimum grade 2:1 2 years’ experience working in a business environment or in a non-profit role liaising with the corporate sector Strong written and verbal communication skills Ability to organise own workload and support multiple projects in busy work environment. Highly developed interpersonal skills and ability to work with senior individuals. Strong analytic skills, and proficiency in MS office programs (i.e. Outlook, Excel, Powerpoint, Word, Teams) Ability to work effectively in an intercultural environment, often with minimal supervision. Willingness and availability for occasional international travel The position is based in London, UK, and eligibility to work in the UK is mandatory. PREFERABLE QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE Experience writing news items, policy briefings, and/or internal reports Knowledge of climate/environmental issues for the oil and gas industry Experience in project management Post graduate degree in relevant subject.
