Our client, Gloucestershire County Council, is looking for a Principal Highways Development Coordinator to join their team.
The position will require fortnightly attendance in Gloucestershire for site visits and officer meetings. Attendance at planning committee meetings and appeals is also required. HDM experience is required.

Responsibilities:
1. Provide timely advice and recommendations to the local planning authority (County and/or District Council) ensuring that the Highways Authority's position is clearly represented.
2. Provide direction and guidance to less experienced colleagues within Highways Development Management to deliver a proactive, effective, and cost-efficient service.
3. Contribute a Highways Development Management perspective to the development of policy and strategy for the Local Transport Plan and the Highway Authority.
4. Facilitate economic sustainable development within the County in the context of the councils' policies and strategies.
Experience:
1. Substantial experience in a public or private organization dealing with Highways development management issues.
2. Substantial experience in Highways Planning and Development legislation.
3. Experience of public presentation at planning committees and planning hearings.
4. Experience of negotiating complex legal agreements.
5. Experience of engineering design standards.
6. Experience of using transport modeling applications.
7. Experience of working within a political environment or in supporting Local Authorities.
8. Experience of preparing reports for technical appraisal and public review.
Education & Qualifications:
1. Degree in Civil Engineering, or relevant degree with compensatory knowledge, abilities, and skills.
