We are seeking a multi skilled Data Centre engineer to join a leading organisation in Hertfordshire. You will be working as part of a small team providing Data Centre services to a prestigious International Financial organisation.
Responsibilities of our Data Centre Engineer will include:
3. Working a 24x7x365 shift pattern of 4 days on 4 days off, 4 nights on 4 nights off
4. Change control management
5. Incident management and resolution
6. Management and tracking of Assets
7. Supervision and escorting of 3rd Party Vendors
8. Planning and implementation of all IT hardware installations adhering to strict Data Centre Standards.
9. Planning and decommission of network hardware and structured cabling
10. Updating all relevant documentation and inventories
11. Completing all service requests, within the agreed SLA
12. Compliance with ONNEC’s and Client Health & Safety procedures
13. Compliance with Manufacturers, ONNEC’s and Clients Quality Standards
14. Compliance to Clients and Support Services approved processes
15. Ensure security procedures with reference to Data Centres are complied with.
Task Description:
16. Maintenance of Data Centre toolsets that assist with support and management
17. Management and governance over the DC
18. Work closely with our facilities providers to maximise energy efficiency savings
19. Successful day to day running of the Data Centre, including installations, decommissions, changes and maintenance
20. Data Centre related service improvement projects
21. Basic configuration of server (IDRAC, ILO)
22. Fault finding and escalation
23. Racking, stacking, moves, changes, decommissioning, patching
24. Data Centre related major infrastructure projects including power outages and replacements
25. Managing complex inter-rack/room cable infrastructure, providing a stable platform for IT infrastructure and desktop connectivity
What we’re looking for in our Data Centre Engineer:
26. Experience of working in high-risk environments and Data Centres
27. Knowledge of DCIM tools and standards (desirable)
28. Experience of ServiceNow, Remedy or other ticketing system (desirable)
29. Attention to detail and proactive
30. Sound Knowledge of Infrastructure Technologies & Networking Concepts
31. Competent in MS Office and Helpdesk/Service Delivery Applications
32. A reliable individual and team player
33. The ability to work under pressure
34. Able to work on own initiative and unsupervised
35. A flexible approach to shift patterns
36. The ability to communicate clearly both written & verbally, at all levels
37. Strong organisational, interpersonal, and administrative skills
