Peake Fruit is based in Ardleigh (Near Colchester) and is a World Class Grower, Packer and Supplier of quality fresh fruit. We are looking to grow our Quality Department and are seeking an experienced Quality Checker/Print Room Operator.
This role is crucial to the success of the business and the successful applicant will be responsible for meeting the customer’s required strict delivery and operational standards. The role involves endlessly striving for better efficiency, hygiene, and best practices to deliver a world-class and vertically integrated fruit supply operation.
Job Responsibilities:
* Conformance of Peake Fruit’s packhouse, facilities, and products to customer (and third-party auditor) standards, specifications, and accreditations.
* Minimising rejection by implementing a quality assurance system that ensures good manufacturing practices and customer/product compliance.
* Continuous improvement of technical performance.
* Follow and promote the QA System.
* Monitor stock from a quality point of view, liaising with sales and production staff.
* Retain and monitor shelf life samples for all products.
* Communicate packing requirements and quality issues to production staff.
* Print labels as per customer specifications.
* Liaise between customers, growers, and suppliers to ensure product specifications and standards are up to date and communicated to all relevant staff.
* Respond quickly to customer quality and technical requests.
* Monitor product quality and respond to non-conformances, customer complaints, and rejections.
* Maintain satisfactory Good Manufacturing practices and improve standards where applicable.
* Assess the quality of raw materials, work in progress, finished products, and goods in storage against appropriate specifications.
* Work as one team to achieve the common goal.

Fruit growing is a 7 days a week seasonal business, so the successful candidate will be required to work 5 from 7 days (which may include 2 late shifts per week) flexibly around the needs of the business.
