Warehouse and Inventory Control Manager
Salary: 34K - £38 + bonus, depending on experience and ability
Hours: Full-time position 40 hours 8am to 4.30pm, Monday to Friday with 30min lunch break
Holidays: 20 days per year plus 8 bank holidays

Funky Chalk LTD is a small, family run online cue sports business, selling snooker and pool products to both retail and trade customers, from a warehouse based in Pudsey LS28 6DW. We mostly import our own branded products in 20ft and 40ft containers and hold over £1m in stock. We're a friendly, vibrant team of 10+ employees (many of whom are cue sport enthusiasts!), dedicated to providing our customers with the best possible products and buying experience.
We have been going through a period of exciting growth and are wanting to take on a highly skilled warehouse manager who has experience in both ecommerce operations and inventory control, to help take our warehouse operation to the next level. We offer excellent opportunities for career progression and higher renumeration for those that add value to the business. A keen interest and knowledge in cue sports is most welcomed but not essential!
Your role:
We are seeking a dynamic, technically minded and highly motivated hands-on manager with inventory control experience to join our team. You will play a crucial role in managing the goods in and goods out process, as well as effective inventory control and storage, helping drive the success of our online sales channels across Amazon, eBay, and our websites. You will be managing the warehouse team and working closely with other departments, as well as occasional trade customers and retail customers.
The ideal candidate will be very much hands-on, keen to get involved in the daily warehouse operation, helping and motivating the staff when needed. Getting to know the stock and keeping every inch of the warehouse impeccably organised and tidy is essential. The ability to work using your own initiative, bringing new ideas and improvements to our process is highly sought after. As is the ability to listen and work as part of a team, to achieve the company goals.
Inventory Control & Management:
Conduct daily cycle counts, ensuring stock levels are accurate and any discrepancies are investigated promptly.
Proactively manage stock, oversee quality control, and escalate issues as necessary.
Coordinate and lead year-end stock takes to ensure accurate reporting at year-end.
Compile and analyse inventory reports, addressing discrepancies such as forecasting, low stock, and slow-moving stock.
Monitor inbound shipments, resolve delays, and ensure timely receipt of goods.
Unload shipping containers (with support of warehouse team), label and put away whilst checking stock for discrepancies such quantity or changes to product design.
QC inventory and report issues.
Manage customer returns and seconds stock and help to sell seconds through various ecommerce channels.
Ensure the accuracy of product master data and backorder reports.
Warehouse management:
Supervise daily warehouse operations, including picking, packing, shipping, and in-bound delivery tasks.
Troubleshoot operational issues in the warehouse, ensuring smooth daily operations.
Oversee warehouse staff, ensuring adherence to safety protocols, productivity standards, and proper equipment usage.
Manage and coordinate staff breaks and shifts to ensure smooth warehouse operations throughout the day.
Provide training and support to warehouse staff on operational processes and the use of inventory management systems.
Continuously monitor and analyse key performance indicators (KPIs) to identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions.
Stay up-to-date with industry trends and best practices in ecommerce warehousing and logistics.
Courier Management:
Manage the courier process, checking invoices are correct and submitting claims for lost or damaged parcels.
Regularly review courier costs and ensure we are using the most competitive service.
Cross-Departmental Collaboration:
Work closely with eCommerce, Purchasing, and Sales teams to align inventory levels with demand.
Assist the Customer Service team by addressing queries via email and phone, providing inventory information and stock availability.
Assist with stock returns, replacement orders, and ensure efficient handling of customer orders.
Occasionally assist the eCommerce team with tasks such as stock listing updates and product revisions.
System Implementation & Support:
Provide long-term assistance with the migration to a Warehouse Management System (WMS).
Lead training sessions for the wider team on WMS and inventory management processes.
Essential Requirements:
Proven experience in stock control, inventory management, and warehouse operations.
Strong understanding of supply chain procedures and warehouse operations.
Experience supervising or leading a team in a fast-paced eCommerce warehouse environment.
Technically minded and highly proficient in IT – good computer skills with the ability to learn software quickly
Familiarity with inventory management systems and warehouse management systems (WMS).
Strong organisational, communication, and leadership skills.
Ability to keep the warehouse well organised and tidy, with products correctly stored
Good knowledge of correct H&S implementation and fire risks
Ability to effectively negotiate and resolve operational challenges.
A team-oriented attitude with a proactive and friendly demeanour.
Physically fit with the capability to lift items up to 25kg.
