Position Overview:
We are looking for a meticulous and dedicated Finance Assistant to join our team. This role involves supporting the finance department across multiple companies within our group. The ideal candidate will be proactive, capable of offering solutions to financial challenges, and an expert in Xero.
This position is office-based in Darlington, full-time for the first few weeks/months to ensure a smooth onboarding process and allow time to get up to speed. Once familiar with the role, the position will transition to a hybrid working arrangement, requiring only a couple of days in the office per month as needed.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Assist with day-to-day financial operations, including data entry, invoicing, and processing payments.
2. Maintain accurate financial records and ensure compliance with company policies.
3. Support the preparation of financial reports and statements.
4. Perform general administrative duties such as filing, scheduling, and correspondence.
5. Work with team members across different companies to ensure smooth financial operations.
6. Handle confidential information with discretion and integrity.
Qualifications:
1. Strong numerical and analytical skills.
2. Proactive, forward-thinking, and a Xero expert - ESSENTIAL
3. Knowledge of the Construction Industry Scheme (CIS) and Reverse Charge VAT is essential.
4. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
5. Excellent organisational and time management abilities.
6. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
7. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
8. Prior experience in a finance or administrative role within the construction industry is essential.
