12 month FTC (Maternity Cover) The Director of Ecommerce will be responsible for leading the direct-to-consumer (D2C) ecommerce strategy and operations, driving growth across both the D2C platform and Amazon channels. This role requires a strategic leader with deep commercial acumen, an ability to manage a high-performing team, and a proven track record in ecommerce management. The Ecommerce Director will own the full P&L, ensuring the achievement of ambitious sales and profitability targets, while optimising customer acquisition, retention, and the overall digital customer experience. The successful candidate will be instrumental in shaping the future of the brand’s ecommerce presence, ensuring both short-term success and long-term sustainability. Key Responsibilities: Strategic Leadership: Develop and implement a comprehensive D2C ecommerce strategy aligned with business and financial goals. Own and manage the full P&L, including sales forecasting, direct costs, and marketing investment, ensuring achievement of customer acquisition targets. Identify and act on market opportunities within skincare and ecommerce to drive growth and maintain a competitive edge. Commercial & Channel Management: Oversee trading performance across D2C and Amazon channels, ensuring sales targets are met while safeguarding profitability. Lead the development and execution of trade and marketing plans, including new product launches and promotional activities for D2C and Amazon. Ensure optimum product assortment across D2C and Amazon, based on an understanding of channel-specific consumer preferences. Manage the key relationship with the Amazon agency to ensure smooth operational and commercial running of the channel. Customer Acquisition & Retention: Oversee customer acquisition efforts, utilizing a broad mix of paid media channels, including paid search, social, affiliates, and influencer partnerships. Collaborate with the Head of Acquisition to meet ambitious customer acquisition targets and maximize return on investment (ROI). Support the Head of Retention in delivering key retention initiatives to maximise engagement and recurring revenues from the customer base. Customer Experience & Digital Operations: Ensure best-in-class customer experience through seamless UX, checkout, and post-purchase services. Identify digital development requirements to support D2C business growth, collaborating with the digital team to deliver these on time and to the highest quality. Collaborate with supply chain, logistics, and customer service teams to optimise the end-to-end customer journey. Team Leadership: Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of nine, with three direct reports. Promote a culture of innovation, commerciality, and continuous improvement within the team. Set clear goals and provide regular feedback, conducting formal performance reviews to drive team development. Key Skills & Experience: Proven experience as an Ecommerce Director or in a similar senior leadership role within ecommerce. Strong commercial acumen with a track record of driving significant revenue growth, particularly in the D2C space. Experience managing and growing a D2C business with a focus on P&L management, sales, cost control, and profit delivery. Experience in managing an Amazon business, including 3P models and outsourced agencies, is preferred but not essential. In-depth understanding of digital marketing, online trading, and performance levers that drive ecommerce success. Exceptional leadership and people management skills, with experience leading teams. Data-driven, highly numerical, and commercial mindset. Excellent stakeholder management, with experience communicating with and influencing senior stakeholders. Desirable Experience: Managing a > £20M D2C business with a proven track record of > 50% year-on-year growth. Overseeing a > £5M Amazon business, with a 3P model managed via an outsourced agency. A D2C generalist leader, able to drive growth and innovation across all aspects of the ecommerce business.
