Where will you be working?

This role will be within our Water and wastewater capital project delivery team. Our teams deliver large-scale capital programmes aimed at keeping water infrastructure resilient for the long-term while protecting the environment.
What will you be doing?
As our Civil Site Team Leader, you'll be part of our Construction Team working on our Anglian Water contract based in Colchester. Working under the Site Manager, the Civil Site Team Leader will be responsible for the day-to-day management of delivery teams and sub-contractors on site.
The role will require the effective utilisation of time and resources to meet budgets and delivery programmes. As a Civil Site Team Leader, you will be expected to carry out the implementation and monitoring of health, safety, quality and performance standards, ensuring all work meets required water industry regulations AW and MWS approved standards.
You'll be accountable for SHEQ performance of Projects, including undertaking and recording findings of periodic SHEQ visits. Act as an ambassador for the company by supporting, promoting and implementing all company and Business Unit initiatives.
You will drive cultural change into the Delivery and Design Teams, eliminating/minimising physical and non-physical waste – i.e. recycling techniques, workshop recharges, standing time etc.
You'll be responsible for communicating and recording all Corporate, SHEQ and Business Unit briefings. All briefings/inductions are recorded on relevant forms and retained for reference.
Ensure appropriate welfare is available for use and well maintained throughout the construction phase. You will ensure all site base personnel hold relevant qualifications and training to carry out their duties.
You'll be responsible for timely completion of multiple concurrent projects, safely and within budget. Attend internal and external review and progress meetings. Co-ordinate and liaise with suppliers, specialist sub-contractors, in-house functions, site installation & construction teams. Monitor SHEA, legislative & programme performance of sub-contractor as per own team.
You'll be responsible for all SHEQ issues on site, which will form part of your role. This includes the completion of paperwork, including weekly safety, environmental and quality inspections, tool-box talks, site-specific risk assessments & method statements.
Ensuring Personal Health and Safety & MTRA are completed and valid. Ensure near misses are recorded through good catch. Carrying out ad hoc risk assessments as necessary.
What you’ll bring
* Do you have knowledge and experience in the water industry?
* Have you gained a certificate in Site Safety Management (or attended 5-day course)?
* Are you trained and experienced in Civil, construction industry?
* Are you an effective manager of sub-contractors, and can you influence client judgement?
* Do you have basic Management training, skills & experience?
* SHEQ / Industry / Legal requirements
* Do you have comprehensive IT abilities including MS Suite, alongside good Project and programme management skills?
* Are you a good communicator, able to communicate detailed data to a non-data literate audience and be able to pass on skills?
The role will be site-based, requiring regular communication with other members of the construction and delivery team based in our local office.
