Our studio is situated in a river-front building in the heart of the Historic Dockyard in Chatham, Kent, UK. We are growing fast, developing our games using cutting-edge technology and delivering these on multiple platforms: PC, PlayStation 4 and 5, and Xbox One and Series S/X.
We are looking for a passionate and qualified UX Researcher to join our team and own our user research across our titles. This role will report to the Business Operations & Services Director to offer expertise to our leadership team on our products.
Your mission is to conduct studies to evaluate the usability of our games and audience satisfaction to guide the development of the games.
As the successful candidate you will:
* Devise the UR strategy, i.e. planning user tests and defining their focus according to the needs of the projects and development teams for which they are responsible.
* Execute user tests, including preparing the study protocol, setting up data collection tools, data analysis, interpretation, and reporting to meet the various objectives and needs of the production department as well as the studio.
* Collaborate with development studios to understand their needs and adapt studies to the production schedule.
* Take care of the test equipment and your schedule.
* Manage the material and time resources assigned to it for testing.
* Analyse the UX by developing user tests, workshops, or benchmark studies using a wide range of user research methods, including playtests, usability testing, interviews, surveys, heuristic evaluations, and focus groups.
* Identify the right profiles, recruit users, set up playtests, and collect data.
* Analyse the results and summarize them in a format allowing exchanges with the development team and other focus departments.
* Lead meetings to follow up on your feedback within the development team.
* Create guidelines to share your experience between projects.
* Integrate accessibility into the heart of the UX design of our projects.
Person Specifications
● At least one initial experience in the field of UX (or equivalent).
● A desire to have a real impact on our games.
● Ability to clearly communicate research findings.
● Experience and a good knowledge of various research methods, best practices of interactions, and design principles.
● Strong user research skills (developing appropriate methods to meet objectives, conducting appropriate analyses, effectively communicating results).
● Excellent analytical and synthesis skills.
● A passion for video games, and knowledge of recent market developments.
Preferred:
● Master's degree in ergonomics, cognitive psychology, consumer market, human factors, HCI, neuroscience, or other relevant training or experience.
● Proactive approach, curiosity.
● Comfortable with qualitative and quantitative data.
● Excellent communication skills.
● Knowledge of game design.
