GP Medical Receptionist (Care Navigator)
The role of a medical receptionist (Care Navigator) is essential to the running of the Practice.
As the first contact with the patients you need to be empathetic, caring and professional.
Experience in this role would be useful but not vital since we would provide the training you need to be able to deliver a great service to our patients.

If you enjoy helping people and listening to them with the intention of trying to figure out how you can help them to access the services they need, then this role is for you. This means that you are not only supporting our patients, but our large clinical team too.
You will need to feel comfortable with technology, and also with change since the NHS is required to constantly change to meet the emerging needs of our population.
Main duties of the job
The role of a care navigator is essentially acustomer service role. Our patients need to access our services, but they donot always understand how wide ranging the skills are within our team.
The successful candidate must have strong IT skillsand be happy to learn how to use our clinical software, and have a confidenttelephone manner and good, face to face interpersonal skills.
It would be your main task to meet their needs inthe most efficient manner which often includes directing then to any of theexcellent community services available to us all in Burnley and the surroundingarea.
Some of the time we are unable to offer exactlywhat a patient wants, exactly when they want it, but it is the way in which youcommunicate what we can offer which will make you a good care navigator.

* Ability to demonstrate a strong motivation to offer a reliable service to the practice Reliability: You should be able to convince us that you have a good attitude to your own health since this role is not for the faint hearted.
Qualifications
* GCSE English and Maths
* NVQ Level 2 in Customer Service or any other customer service qualification GCSE grade A to C in ICT
Experience
* Customer Service- experience in working with the public in a customer service role Microsoft Office- Easy understanding of how to use Word, Excel and social media
* Experience of working in primary care, and more specifically, in general practice.
* Ability to maintain confidentiality good time management skills. Ability to communicate fluently in English good interpersonal skills. Willingness to work flexibly, ability to problem solve. Willingness to work efficiently with the other members of the practice team. Ability to project calmness Positive attitude towards change. Ability to demonstrate the motivation to offer a reliable service to the practice.
