Data Cabling Engineer – Slough
Salary : Up to £45,000 per annum
On Client Site: Monday-Friday / 9am-5pm
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Data Cabling Engineer to join our team in Slough. This role involves working in a fast-paced data centre environment, focusing on structured cabling installation, monitoring systems, and control centre duties.
Key Responsibilities:
* Structured Cabling : Install, maintain, and test structured cabling systems, including managing rack and cable resources, cross-connect installations, and cable connection tests for customer IT equipment.
* Monitoring Systems : Monitor data centre infrastructure systems, proactively identifying, diagnosing, and resolving issues to maintain optimal operational standards.
* Control Centre Duties : Oversee data centre operations from the control centre, manage incident handling, and escalate issues as necessary to ensure smooth service delivery.
* Vendor and Project Management : Supervise and liaise with external vendors for cabling and infrastructure projects, ensuring timely resolution of issues, compliance with standards, and high-quality work.
* Documentation : Maintain accurate records, including inventory and asset management, and regularly update technical drawings and relevant documentation.
* Customer Support : Assist with customer move-ins, escort customers to data halls, and provide exceptional service, addressing inquiries and issues promptly.
* Incident Handling : Participate in incident management, root cause analysis, and preventive maintenance to uphold high service standards.
Requirements:
* Technical Experience : Proven experience in structured cabling installation and maintenance within a data centre or similar high-performance environment.
* Monitoring & Control Systems : Experience with data centre infrastructure monitoring systems, including alarm monitoring and remote support capabilities.
* Resource Management : Strong understanding of cable management, rack space optimisation, and data centre resource allocation.
* Vendor Management : Ability to supervise and coordinate vendor activities, ensuring adherence to quality and safety standards.
* Organisational Skills : Ability to maintain detailed records of inventory, asset lists, and operational procedures.
* Communication : Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with a commitment to superior customer service.
