Job Summary
Highbridge Medical Centre is looking for an experienced Health Care Assistant to join their team. The hours available are up to 37.5 hours per week, on a permanent basis. You will be required to work over all three sites at Highbridge, Burnham, and Berrow Medical Centres.
Working pattern will be discussed at interview.
£12.25 per hour with an NHS or NEST pension offered.
You will have experience of working in primary care and be competent in healthcare duties. Candidates should possess excellent communication skills and an ability to organise their own time and workload.
Main Duties of the Job
Working under the direct supervision of the Lead / Practice Nurse and strictly in accordance with specific practice guidelines and protocols, the Healthcare Assistant will assist the practice clinical team in the provision and delivery of prescribed programmes of patient care.
An understanding, acceptance and adherence to the need for strict confidentiality is essential.
Job Responsibilities
* New patient health checks
* BMI, Urinalysis, ECG recording
* INR monitoring using Coagucheck and INR Star
* To undertake Doppler testing
* Blood Pressure Monitoring following practice hypertension guidelines
* Phlebotomy including performing annual blood tests, BP, BMI, ACR as requested for patients with chronic diseases
* Urinalysis MSU, ACR in accordance with practice policy
* Wound Care suture removal in accordance with practice policy, following training
* Weight Management
* Chaperoning duties
* Processing and management of laboratory samples requested by GPs/Nurses
* Administer influenza vaccines according to PSD, following training
* Administer B12 injections according to PSD
* To undertake Spirometry for GP to interpret results
* Surgical equipment and vaccine re-stocking and stock rotation
* Clearing and re-stocking consulting rooms
* Preparing and maintaining environments and equipment before, during, and after patient care interventions including assisting GPs during the performance of minor operations, coils, and implants
* Assisting in the assessment and surveillance of patients' health and well-being
* Help to raise awareness of health and well-being and how it can be promoted
Person Specification
Qualifications
* English & Maths GCSE (or equivalent)
* NVQ Level 2 in Health & Social Care
* Care Certificate
Knowledge and Skills
* Ability to demonstrate excellent communication skills
Experience
* Previous experience of working as a HCA or equivalent
