Job overview: We are offering an exciting opportunity for Band 6 Paediatric Senior Staff Nurses to join our Children's Emergency Departments at Epsom. Our team provides 24-hour paediatric emergency care for children with acute, urgent, and complex health needs, including mental health and long-term conditions.
The team includes dedicated paediatric advanced care practitioners and is supported by the Trust's Paediatric Nursing and Medical Teams, along with Emergency Department colleagues. Opportunities for professional development include access to Trust-wide paediatric simulation courses.
Our paediatric services at Epsom General Hospital encompass acute paediatric wards, medical day units, outpatients, and specialist services such as Level 1 Paediatric Oncology Shared Care, paediatric psychiatric liaison, and safeguarding teams. There are ample opportunities to develop skills across various areas to complement emergency nursing expertise.
Paed ED now has a dedicated Practice Educator to support both new and existing nurses, facilitating learning and skill development specific to paediatric emergency care.
Main duties of the job
* Provide evidence-based, high-quality assessment and care to children and their families in the Emergency Department.
* Supervise, support, and educate team members, including nursing and medical students.
* Develop and maintain advanced emergency nursing skills.
* Advise on health promotion and illness/injury prevention.
* Advocate for children and families.
* Ensure safe, effective clinical practice and enhance patient experience.
* Promote and implement trust policies and organizational objectives.
