Silx Teen Bar Youth Project, based in the centre of Blyth, is looking to recruit centre-based and detached youth workers to join our team to deliver provision within our project. These roles can also be combined for the right candidates.
Candidates will be required to work evenings between 4:45pm and 8:15pm, supporting the Senior Youth Worker and existing team with the planning and delivery of recreational and educational activities for young people aged 11-18. The Teen Bar is open every Monday-Thursday and is the largest youth provision in Northumberland.
Successful candidates will be required to chat with young people and build up positive relationships, challenge behaviour, support young people with any personal issues, and confidently deliver projects and activities within the provision. Candidates could also be required to work within the detached street engagement team, working with young people who use the streets as their means of recreation. This role will involve building a positive rapport with possibly challenging young people and confidently dealing with any issues that may arise. The detached team works closely with the Teen Bar staff and supports partner organisations with youth issues within the area.
Minimum Requirements:
Candidates MUST have previous experience of working with young people. A relevant qualification would be desirable but not essential. Successful candidates will be given full training in all areas of the role, and there will be opportunities for further training and progression in youth work.
Hours of Work:
Successful candidates will be required to work 2-4 evenings a week between the hours of 4:45pm and 8:15pm (days to be discussed and agreed at interview).
