General Domestic Maintenance Technician
Permanent, Full time Contract
Working 40 hours per week, Monday – Friday 08:00 a.m. – 16.30 p.m.
Salary £33,500 - £37,500 per annum (dependant on experience)

We have an exciting opportunity at Sunlight Children’s Care Ltd to work as a General Domestic Maintenance Technician, with practical experience in the following areas: painting and decorating, plumbing and heating, electrical and joinery.
Sunlight Children’s Care is a family run residential childcare providers, both offer a variety of residential placements to young people between the ages of 8 – 18 and who may display emotional and challenging behaviours. The young people placed within our services have often experienced significant adversity and trauma in their young lives and may no longer able to reside within their familial / foster home.
Our aim is to create a safe and sustainable environment for our young people and a developmental and rewarding workplace for our care team. We ensure our team(s) adhere to Ofsted standards and guidelines referencing the Children’s Act and Children’s Care Standards, Ofsted is the looked after children’s regulatory body.
As General Domestic Maintenance Technician, you will be responsible for all maintenance issues within each of our homes, currently located across East Midlands, West Midlands and West Yorkshire. You will be the first point of contact for general / day to day maintenance issues, urgent repairs, ensuring all are completed in a safe, timely manner.
Main responsibilities will include:
* Responsible for and first point of contact for urgent and general maintenance issues within each of our homes - painting, decorating, woodwork, joinery, plumbing, drainage etc.
* Flat pack / furniture builds.
* Routine repairs - fixing / installing new locks, leaking taps, broken window locks / latches / windowpanes.
* Responsible for weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual maintenance including PAT testing, carrying out or arranging on site gas and electrical certified safety checks.
* In conjunction with the H & S Lead - review, implement and audit H & S checks,
* Managing contractors when on site, ensuring safer working practices are in place, in line with home needs.
* Maintenance of all fire safety equipment, carrying out safety audits such as fire extinguishers / carbon monoxide detectors.
* Perform basic bathroom and kitchen refurbishments when required.
* Complete all painting and decorating requirements.
* General garden maintenance, boundary repairs.
* Report on defective white goods / fixtures and fittings.
Essential Criteria:
* A Full clean UK Driving Licence
* 3 years or more general maintenance experience, in one or more of the following areas: Plumbing and Heating, Electrical, Joinery or Painting and Decorating.
* Willing to travel to all locations to carry out maintenance work as and when required.
Desirable:
* Relevant or transferable qualification in one or more of the maintenance areas listed above.
