A new opportunity has arisen for an experienced FPGA Engineer to work with a talented team in a new, purpose-built secure facility in the Maidenhead area.

The Role
The Principal FPGA Engineer will play a leading role in the Cyber Unit’s Firmware team, focussed on R&D and production programmes ranging in both value and complexity, designing, architecting and testing FPGA Firmware.
The Principal Engineer will be able to review and sign-off work, contribute to the ongoing improvement of development processes and ensure appropriate standards are understood and met.
They may also be required to undertake a ‘lead’ role in certain assigned projects, providing technical management to a team of engineers as well as performing in a mentorship capacity for some of the junior members of the team.
Requirements
This role would suit an experienced engineer who is proficient in Firmware development across the full engineering lifecycle and who also possesses the ability to design for synchronous and asynchronous systems.
Experience in Lattice, Xilinx, Altera or Microsemi FPGAs is sought alongside knowledge of industry standard communication protocols associated with communication interfaces.
Experience in developing military equipment would be beneficial but not essential.
Security Clearance
The ability and willingness to obtain the highest level of UK Security Clearance is essential for this position. A bonus of £5,000 will be paid annually once this is attained / transferred.
It is possible to start work at a lower level of UK Security Clearance while the application is underway.
Location
This role will be based full time on site in the Maidenhead area due to the classification of the work.
There is onsite parking and an early finish on a Friday.
