Specialist Clinical Pharmacist - Band 7
📍 Location: St Margaret’s Hospital, Epping, with travel to Saffron Walden Community Hospital and other Trust sites
⏰ Hours: Full-time, 37.5 hours per week
Role Overview:
This position supports safe and effective medicines management within the West Essex Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust.
As a Specialist Clinical Pharmacist, you will provide expert pharmaceutical care, ensuring safe medication use across community health services and supporting multidisciplinary teams.
Key Responsibilities:
* Clinical Pharmacy Services : Deliver clinical pharmacy services to specific wards and units, including medication review, patient counselling, and discharge planning.
* Medicines Management : Provide specialist advice to healthcare professionals on cost-effective, safe medication use, focusing on areas such as complex drug interactions and unlicensed medicine use.
* Independent Prescribing : As an independent prescriber, assess and manage patients’ medication needs, prescribing within areas of competence.
* Education & Training : Support training sessions for healthcare staff, contributing to the development of safe prescribing practices.
* Policy & Audit : Contribute to the creation of Trust policies, participate in clinical audits, and ensure compliance with medicines management standards.
Requirements:
* Qualifications : Registered with GPhC, with postgraduate qualifications or equivalent experience in clinical pharmacy.
* Experience: Significant clinical pharmacy experience, both in community health and NHS settings.
* Skills : Strong communication skills, clinical decision-making abilities, and familiarity with medicines-related IT systems.
