Job summary Locum Consultant Medical Oncologist - 10 PAs per week An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Locum Consultant Medical Oncologist to join the Trust, providing oncology services to patients within the Trust. This is a fixed term Locum Consultant position for 12 months. Applicants are invited to commence in post as soon as possible. The Bucks Oncology Unit provides a comprehensive service of tumour specific outpatient clinics lead by consultants and supported by tumour specific CNSs, tumour specific multidisciplinary team meetings, systemic anti-cancer treatment and blood product delivery and other complementary and supportive services. Outpatient clinics are held in Stoke Mandeville Hospital and Wycombe Hospital. Systemic anti-cancer treatment (SACT) is delivered in the Cancer Care and Haematology Unit in Stoke Mandeville Hospital and the Sunrise Unit in Wycombe Hospital. The post holder is expected to provide a comprehensive oncology service at Stoke Mandeville Hospital, with possible cross site working at Wycombe Hospital, participating in clinics, MDT meetings and contributing to the Acute Oncology Service, through AOS consultant ward rounds. Applicants should be on the GMC Specialist Register. It is Trust policy that without CCT, an offer as Locum Consultant can be given for a 6 months fixed term contract, with possibility of it being extended for a further 6 months, but cannot go over 12 months in total. Main duties of the job The post holder will undertake one AOS consultant ward round per week. The post holder will specialise in breast and LGI malignancies. Each 3-hour clinic has 1 new and 6 follow up patients. The post holder is likely to see 150-180 new patients per annum. There will be support available from consultant colleagues, clinical nurse specialists, acute oncology nurses, cancer pharmacists and clinical trials nurses. At the current time, the post will be based at Stoke Mandeville Hospital (SMH) with clinical commitment at Wycombe Hospital. (WH). The Trust has two Chemotherapy & treatment Units (at SMH & WH).
