This is a 12 month Fixed term part-time appointment on a 5 PA job plan. The post holder will be part of an established multidisciplinary team.

Main duties of the job
This is an exciting opportunity to join our multi-disciplinary team of Oral and Maxillofacial, Orthodontic and Restorative colleagues and several other medical related specialities.
Oxford University Hospitals is keen to appoint a fixed term, Locum consultant in Oral Medicine to provide specialist secondary and tertiary Oral Medicine services for adults and children.
The Oral Medicine Service provides specialist care for children and adults. The majority of the clinical work involves diagnosis and management of the full range of oral medicine conditions.
The successful Consultant will be involved in treating the full range of Oral Medicine conditions in the Oral and Maxillofacial Unit. Our Consultant led teams provide services involving the full range of Oral Medicine conditions, multidisciplinary clinics with Oral Medicine which currently include Dermatology and Haematology. The successful candidate would be expected to consider developing links with these or other relevant medical or dental specialities.

Job description
Job responsibilities
Undertake outpatient clinics new and follow-ups with supervision of junior staff as appropriate.
Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with dental and medical colleagues in other specialties and participate in regular clinical meetings and other postgraduate activities.
Develop and maintain good communication with General dental practitioners, colleagues in the salaried dental services and local orthodontic specialist practitioners.
Active involvement in Audit, Clinical Governance, morbidity and mortality meetings
Participation in the departmental educational activity.
Share responsibility for data protection particularly digital and electronic records.
Ensure good clinical practice and continued professional development.
The post holder will comply with infection control practices and any relevant trust policies and procedures with regards to Safeguarding Children and Vulnerable Adults.
Supervision of the Specialist Registrars, DCTs and therapists will be required.
The appointee will participate in teaching of medical & dental students, dental DCTs, FY2s, StRs, OMFS trainees and courses for General Dental Practitioners as required

1. Full registration with the United Kingdom General Dental Council (GDC) On GDC specialist list in Oral Medicine or within six months of being admitted to the list for trainees currently in a training programme within the UK.
2. Intercollegiate Specialty Fellowship Exit Examination (ISFE) in Oral Medicine, or equivalent.
3. Possession of a Certificate of Accreditation or eligibility for a CCST in Oral Medicine, or within six months of interview.
4. Successful completion of an SAC-approved training programme in Oral Medicine, or within 6 months of completion at the time of interview.
5. Experience in the multidisciplinary management of Oral Medicine patients including patients on systemic therapies for oramucosal conditions
6. Experience of undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and training Experience in supervising undergraduates, dental core trainees, StRs and postgraduates
7. Demonstrates clarity in written/spoken communication & capacity to adapt language as appropriate to the situation. Able to build rapport, listen, persuade & negotiate
8. Capacity to work effectively with others. Able to work in multiprofessional teams & supervise junior medical staff
9. Capacity to operate under pressure. Demonstrates initiative & resilience to cope with changing circumstances
10. Demonstrates commitment to an equal, diverse and truly inclusive environment and experience for patients, trainees, students and colleagues
Desirable
11. Full registration with the United Kingdom General Medical Council (GMC) if dually qualified Fellowship in Dental Surgery or membership of the Faculty of Dental Surgery, or equivalent
12. Other relevant postgraduate qualifications in Oral Medicine or Medical Leadership
13. Postgraduate qualification in education
14. Lead role in delivery of quality improvement initiatives
15. Research experience relevant to Oral Medicine Publications in refereed journals
16. Evidence of formal Leadership courses or qualifications Management experience in delivering a clinical service
