Role Summary
* To provide a professional, efficient and effective Reception service to patients and visitors attending the Emergency Department in accordance with Royal Devon University Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust's policies and standards relating to confidentiality and customer care.
* To ensure patients' details are accurately recorded and the relevant documentation created to support safe patient care.
* To provide general clerical duties to support the patients' care journey through the department with the minimum of delay.
* This position is instrumental in creating a “good first impression” of the Trust/Department to patients and visitors.
About the Role
We are looking to recruit a professional and reliable individual to provide an efficient and effective Reception service to patients and visitors attending the Emergency Department. The post holder will be proficient in dealing with confidentiality issues and able to provide excellent customer care service, ensuring patients' details are accurately recorded and the relevant documentation is created to support safe patient care. This position is instrumental in creating a “good first impression” of the Trust/Department to patients and visitors.
Dealing with approximately 105,000 attendances per year, the Emergency Department is an exciting and stimulating place to work and benefits from a new innovative IT system. This role would suit someone who has excellent interpersonal skills, is proactive and looking for a challenge.
The successful candidate will demonstrate excellent communication skills, the ability to remain calm under pressure and experience of dealing with the general public and with difficult/distressed people. A flexible approach to work and experience of working in a busy environment and with minimal supervision are also essential.
Working Pattern: 16 hours per week over a 3-week rolling rota.
Week 1: Wednesday 16:00 - 21:00, Saturday 09:00 - 16:00, Sunday 16:00 - 21:00.
Week 2: Monday 16:00 - 21:00, Thursday 16:00 - 21:00, Friday 16:00 - 21:00.
Week 3: Tuesday 16:00 - 21:00, Saturday 16:00 - 21:00, Sunday 09:00 - 16:00.

This is a fixed-term contract for 12 months. For current NHS employees, this post could be a secondment opportunity.
