Solar Technician (053jc) – North East England/Remote - £32 – 35k + Benefits
My client who are a leading Green Energy solutions provider is currently seeking an additional Solar Technician to be based in the North East of England to cover projects in the Middlesborough. Darlington region.
DUE TO THE NATURE OF THIS RECRUITMENT CONSULTANCY, WE ARE ONLY ABLE TO REPRESENT INDIVIDUALS WHO ARE EX MILITARY.
You will be reporting to the Ops Manager, and you will be required on a daily basis to visit various sites in the region, under the instruction of the Operations & Deputy Operations Manager, to carry out planned preventative maintenance, corrective maintenance & remedial fault rectification on ground mount solar farms.
You will also assist with other tasks on-site as needed, for example, site inductions, receiving deliveries and ensuring sub-contractors visiting the site work in a safe controlled manor.
Your key responsibilities will include:
* Responsible for the routine maintenance, testing and remedial work on Solar Farms within the company’s portfolio.
* Responsible for carrying out planned preventative maintenance as detailed by the O&M department.
* Responsible for planned corrective maintenance and reactive when called to do so.
* Complete all reports carried out on site and upload them on to the company’s portal.
* To be available for weekend standby duties when trained.
* Assisting the senior electrician on site when required.
* Ensure all health and safety requirements for the site you are working on are complied with, and to be familiar with all company policies and associated risk assessments.
* Engage with the site electricians/ subcontractors and the site management when needed.
* Carrying out or overseeing other reasonable tasks as requested from time to time by your line manager.
* To look after and keep in good order the vehicle, PPE and test equipment you are supplied with, and report any defects to your line manager.
To be considered for this role you will need the following skills and experience:
* Electrical qualification (minimum of Level 2).
* A minimum of two years electrical experience.
* Solar PV experience is desirable but not essential.
* Full UK driving licence.
* Flexible to travel to sites across the Northeast, but willing to travel further when required, some overnight stops may be required on occasions.
* Team player attitude, wiling to assist with tasks outside of core electrical work when needed.
* The ability to use your own initiative and to work on your own in an outdoor environment.
This role would suit someone coming from an electrical background who is seeking their first step into the Green Energy sector as you will be working initially on the Solar Energy side of things but will be moving across to the Wind Energy side as well as well as getting involved in the comms sector as this is also an issue in this field.
In return they are offering a good starting salary of up to £35k, with a daily subsistence allowance when working on site of between £8 to 10 per day depending on hours on site, 24 days holiday, however that will rise to 27 days + Bank holidays, company pension, private healthcare for you and your family, death in service 4 x Salary, company vehicle for work only. You will also be on an on call rota covering Weekends + Bank Holidays and you will receive £75.00 daily on call allowance and if you are called out will get time and a half on Saturday and double time on Sunday and Bank Holidays.
