Role overview: We are seeking an experienced data protection practitioner to join our team in Sheffield as the Data protection Lead. The successful candidate will work with the Head of Information Security and privacy and DPO to promote good practice, provide advice, and to ensure data protection and privacy compliance across the organisation. This is an important role with significant exposure to senior stakeholders and is ideal for someone with a good background in data protection and privacy obligations under law in the UK and overseas. The role reports directly to the Head of Information Security and Privacy / Data Protection Officer (DPO) and is key to supporting the wider business in ensuring data protection compliance and effective data protection risk management across the group globally. Key Responsibilities: Work with the Head of Information Security & Privacy / DPO to: Identify and analyse regulatory obligations for data protection and privacy Mature and enhance the privacy management framework Mature and enhance the privacy compliance framework Mature and enhance the privacy risk management Manage Records of Processing Activities (RoPAs) Manage Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs) Manage and respond to Data Subject Access Requests (DSARs) Maintain and enhance the company data retention policy and schedule, ensuring it is embedded across all areas of the business Maintain and enhance privacy minimum requirements Provide advice, guidance, and instruction on data protection and privacy issues across the organisation Respond to customer data protection and privacy requests Champion data privacy compliance Provide assurance on compliance with data protection and privacy obligations both internally and where we use suppliers for the provision of services Support stakeholders in the review of data protection and privacy related contractual obligations Develop and enhance data protection and privacy policies and procedures Maintain and enhance data protection and privacy training Act as the first point of contact for supervisory authorities and our representative in the EU Support the management of data protection incidents, and any post-incident response Develop and maintain data protection and privacy Management Information (MI) and metrics What will you need to succeed? Experience with data protection and privacy regulations (UK GDPR, UK DPA, EU GDPR.
