As the Head of Lifelong Learning, you will spearhead the strategic and operational direction of this vital area within the college. Your expertise and leadership will be instrumental in developing and implementing innovative programs that meet the diverse needs of our learners, ranging from adult education and vocational training to skills enhancement. You will work collaboratively with a dedicated team of educators and support staff, inspiring and empowering them to deliver outstanding teaching and learning experiences.

Key Responsibilities
1. Establish and maintain strategic partnerships with external parties, ensuring appropriate relationships with schools, employers and parents;
2. Provide effective operational planning and management to meet College, Directorate and Curriculum strategic objectives;
3. Drive learner recruitment across the Curriculum promoting growth and innovation in line with market intelligence and proven need for all FE, WBL, HE, 14-19 and commercial learning;
4. Teach a number of hours commensurate with the position of Head of Curriculum;
5. Lead the development of Teaching and Learning in the Curriculum, ensuring that it is at the cutting edge of current thinking and technology and leads to creativity and innovation;
6. Ensure that the Curriculum in the area is planned effectively, implemented efficiently and meets the needs of the local and national economy;
7. Ensure that all College Quality Assurance and Improvement processes that appear in the College Quality Cycle are met within the Curriculum Area, to agreed timescales;
8. Ensure that the Curriculum Area strives for the highest possible outcomes and progression rates for learners;
9. Ensure the management of all human and physical resources within the area efficiently and effectively, within an agreed budget;
10. Assist the Dean in the promotion of the work of the Faculty, ensuring the celebration of learner and staff success is maximised;
11. Ensure all statutory and regulatory requirements in respect of Health, Safety and the Environment in relation to the area are applied and adhered to, including the Educational Visits Policy;
12. Assist the Dean in the establishment of appropriate student discipline standards in line with College policy;
13. Contribute to a range of cross college meetings;
14. Support the College's drive to increase non-core income by engaging the Curriculum Area in a range of income generating activities;
15. Engage with and embed a range of cost reduction measures, whilst not affecting the quality of provision for its learners;
16. Carry out any other duties as directed by the Principal/Chief Executive commensurate with the grade of the post at the initial place of work or other locations within the College.
Skills Knowledge and ExpertiseEssential Criteria:
1. Degree/HND or Equivalent
2. Teaching Qualification
3. At least three years relevant experience of curriculum management including the introduction and implementation of new initiatives
4. At least three years' experience of curriculum development
5. Experience of working in partnership with external agencies
6. Experience of developing income generating activity in an educational environment
7. Excellent communicator with diplomacy and tact
8. Excellent interpersonal and organisational skills
9. Ability to lead a geographically dispersed team
10. High level of personal integrity and confidentiality
11. Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines
12. An understanding of developments in FE, HE, 14-19 and WBL
13. Lead by example, setting high standards of professionalism
14. Demonstrate a positive, open and supportive management style
15. Value and nurture creativity in others
16. Encourage and motivate others to share ownership and responsibility for service
17. Challenge and resolve less than satisfactory performance
18. Develop good working relationships
