PRINCIPAL SOLICITOR
The Council is looking to recruit a Principal Solicitor to join its experienced team within Legal Services. You will provide management oversight of a small team and undertake a wide variety of legal work, with a particular focus on Contracts and Procurement, providing a quality and comprehensive legal service to officers, elected Members, and other partners.
We are looking for someone who will be fundamental in meeting the Legal Team’s vision to support the Council in acting lawfully and with high standards of governance to achieve its corporate objectives for the local community. We seek an enthusiastic team player who can contribute to the wider delivery of the Council’s corporate plan.

In this role, you will support stakeholders by providing specialist legal advice, representation, and assistance across a range of complex contract and procurement matters.
We are looking for an individual who has experience in:
* Previous experience within Contracts (reviewing, drafting, and amending a range of commercial contracts, IT contracts, goods and services, framework agreements, consultancy agreements, funding agreements, and public procurement).
* Experience with commercial property matters such as acquisitions, sales, and commercial leases.
* Management of a small legal team, perfect for someone looking to take the next step in their career.
* A qualified Solicitor/Barrister/FILEX with a current Practising Certificate.
The ideal candidate would be:
* Able to support the Head of Legal (Deputy Monitoring Officer) in developing and delivering the corporate vision, value, and priorities of the Council.
* Effective in written and verbal communication with officers internally and externally with courts, barristers, professional bodies, stakeholders, and members of the public.
* Self-motivated with the ability to handle a large and varied complex caseload.
* Adaptable to changing demands and able to provide sound legal advice.
* Resilient, enthusiastic, with personal diplomacy and self-motivation.
