Vacancy: Mechanical Designer Location: Royston Job Family: Engineering At JM we are looking for a Mechanical Designer who will be responsible for developing the CAD design drawings for capital projects within the Royston Site Project Team. The site project team portfolio is a circa £10m/yr size portfolio consisting of multiple projects to improve and replace assets at the Royston site. Projects are mainly asset renewal upgrades with some growth projects. Projects executed by this team will be largely self-delivered and self-designed, without the use of external design companies. You will be responsible for creating accurate technical drawings, schematics, isometrics, and layouts for capital project engineering designs using CAD software. The role requires a strong understanding of mechanical engineering principles, materials, and manufacturing processes. You will collaborate closely with discipline engineers within the capital project team, especially the CAPEX Mechanical Engineer, to ensure that designs meet the required specifications, quality and standards. The role will specifically focus on mechanical engineering deliverables like piping designs and layouts, equipment layouts, isometrics. The level of detail and type of drawing required will be dependent on the project complexity, size and design stage maturity and the designer will be expected to advise on the most appropriate deliverables for a given project. Your responsibilities: Design and Draft CAD drawings for Capital Project engineering designs (i.e P&IDs, PFDs, piping layout, piping isometrics, equipment layout, cable routing, instrument layouts) Present designs are review meetings and participate in wider engineering and constructability reviews for projects. Adjust current drawings and recommend changes based on their understanding and knowledge of the Site. Work closely with all relevant engineers and project managers as required to make sure the design is precise. Accountability for the maintenance and upkeep of the CAD drawing Library, to include a designated system for maintaining records of changes. Review and interpret specifications from the project team. Requirements for the role: Degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar Familiarisation and experience use the BS EN ISO 128 standard for Draughting. Experience using AutoCAD software to create mechanical and other engineering drawings. Experience using an alternative CAD software to create mechanical and other engineering drawings. Experience with rotating mechanical machinery. Experience of COMAH regulations and having worked on a COMAH site.
