Job Description
JOB TITLE: Head of Group Reporting and Ledger Close - Group Finance Support
LOCATION(S): Edinburgh
HOURS: Full time
WORKING PATTERN: Hybrid, 40% (or two days) in an office site
About this opportunity
This exciting role offers the opportunity to lead, build and motivate a team of c.40 finance professionals, in the Group Reporting and Ledger Close Team, partnering with other teams across Group Finance Support (GFS) and Central Finance to deliver a robust control environment which gives confidence in reporting to stakeholders. This includes providing valuable insights and support to partners to contribute to LBG strategic agenda.
In addition, you'll have responsibility for aligning inputs and delivering the Ledger Close Process for the Group General Ledger. You'll be responsible for providing support to several divisional Finance teams including Commercial Banking and Group Treasury. The reporting responsibilities include Regulatory Compliance Reporting to the PRA and Bank of England.
* Drive and positively influence key internal and external GFS partners including Central Finance stakeholders, Divisional Finance Directors, Risk Partners, Platform Teams and our external auditors and Regulators
* Provide challenge, insight and decision support to the Central Finance teams and other key partners to improve reporting, controls and performance
* Lead the GFS monthly, quarterly and annual reporting cycles delivering to partners.
* Manage the Group’s Balance Sheet Substantiation process, which is crucial for accurate balance sheet validation throughout the organisation. Provide important updates to senior committees, including the Finance Risk Committee.
* Responsible for Regulatory Statistical Reporting - across banking entities for monthly/quarterly submission to Bank of England, PRA, FCA and UK Finance
* Lead governance over the Group’s intercompany balances. Performing controls, reconciliations and investigations to clear mismatches between entities, ensuring no material misstatement
What you’ll need
* Prior experience in leading a Financial Reporting Process in a large organisation, preferably in Banking
* Leader with drive, energy and a growth mindset, who leads by example and has experience of leading a large team
* Excellent communicator, able to influence and articulate complex issues at all levels across LBG, building strong diverse working relationships across different parts of the Group.
* Attract, inspire and lead a successful, diverse professional team actively handling performance to realise potential and retain talent
* Qualified finance professional with significant post qualification experience as a leader in control and management and statutory reporting
* Strong Risk and Control understanding, including LBG RSCA and SOX framework; with an awareness of the key risks facing LBG Finance. Strong technical knowledge in accounting for banking products preferred
