Key Responsibilities:
* Direct Support: Provide safe and stimulating hands-on support to children and young people, fostering their development and independence, and promoting positive outcomes for young people.
* Operational Excellence: Contribute to the smooth operation of our residential care facilities, ensuring the safety and well-being of all residents and a high standard of care.
* Safeguarding Culture: Ensure the safeguarding of children at all times, support open cultures of safeguarding practices, and maintain effective reporting systems.
* Team Management: Lead and mentor a team of dedicated practitioners, providing induction, coaching, and effective supervision and development.
* Quality Care: Uphold high-quality care standards in line with the relevant regulations.
* Prioritising Child Welfare: Ensure children’s welfare is paramount, adhering to child protection policies and protocols.
* Shift Leadership: Coordinate activities as a shift leader, ensuring child safety and effective running of the home.
* Family and Professional Engagement: Collaborate with parents and professionals to ensure the holistic well-being of children.
* Regulatory Compliance: Maintain strict adherence to regulatory requirements and ensure accurate reporting of information.
* Inclusion and Diversity: Foster a diverse and inclusive environment that promotes equality.
* Care Planning: Participate in care planning and contribute to children’s goal setting and achievements.
* Key Worker: Act as a Key Worker for identified young people, overseeing their records and well-being.
* Communication: Promote open communication within the team, ensuring a supportive work environment.
* Flexibility: Be flexible in working hours, including weekends and sleep-ins, to meet service needs.
Qualifications and Experience:
* Desirable Qualifications: NVQ Level 3 in a childcare-related field, NVQ Level 3 Diploma for Residential Care.
* Skills: Strong communication, IT proficiency, interpersonal skills, and ability to manage challenging behaviours.
* Knowledge: Understanding of disabilities, current legislation, care practices, safeguarding, and health and safety regulations.
* Experience: Previous experience supporting children with disabilities and their families.
* Commitment: Dedication to diversity and person-centred practice, as well as a satisfactory DBS check (Essential).
