Class 1 Multidrop Delivery Driver
Keighley
Upto £16.52 ph
40-48 hours per week
We are recruiting for Class 1/2 delivery drivers for our client based in Keighley to carry out multidrop deliveries of milk to customers.
Key Responsibilities
1. Driving a Class 1 Vehicle: A Class 1 vehicle is a HGV (Heavy Goods Vehicle), typically requiring a Category C (Class 1) license to operate. The truck may weigh over 7.5 tons and is used for making deliveries.
2. Multidrop Deliveries: You’ll be making multiple stops throughout the day to deliver milk, ranging from a few to many different locations depending on the route. This requires careful planning and time management to ensure that each drop is completed efficiently.
3. Milk Delivery: You will be transporting pallets, crates, or cases of milk (and possibly other dairy products) to customers. This could be to supermarkets, local shops, or direct-to-home services. The deliveries may involve handling crates manually, especially if the locations do not have mechanical unloading facilities.
4. Customer Interaction: You may need to interact with customers to ensure deliveries are made as expected, get signatures, and resolve any issues or requests.
5. Route Management: Managing the delivery route is crucial. You’ll need to plan the route for efficiency, ensuring deliveries are completed on time. With multiple drops, this can involve navigating both urban and rural areas and possibly dealing with traffic.
6. Health & Safety Compliance: Ensuring the vehicle and load are safely transported, and complying with regulations, including hygiene standards for dairy products. You will also need to check that your vehicle is in good working order, ensuring it meets legal and company standards.
7. Lifting & Physical Work: As a multidrop delivery driver, heavy lifting is a regular part of the job. You may need to unload and deliver the milk to locations that require manual labor (e.g., carrying crates to specific storage areas in shops or homes).
8. Vehicle Maintenance: Ensuring the truck is clean and in good working condition. You might need to perform basic maintenance checks (like checking the oil, tires, and brakes) before heading out for deliveries.
Skills & Qualifications Needed:
* Class 1 Driving License (Category C): This is required to operate large goods vehicles.
* Good Physical Condition: Lifting and unloading milk crates can be physically demanding, so good physical health and stamina are essential.
* Time Management: Ability to efficiently organize and manage your route and time to ensure all deliveries are completed within the time frame.
* Customer Service Skills: Professional communication and customer service skills are needed when dealing with store managers, supermarket staff, or individual customers.
* Navigation Skills: Ability to navigate routes efficiently, sometimes using GPS or route optimization apps.
This is a temporary-permanent position.
