Dermatology Nurse
Band 5
Countess of Chester Hospital NHS Foundation Trust staff pride themselves on not only leading through clinical excellence but also by creating an environment where all staff are valued and appreciated. To achieve this, the Trust has embarked on an exciting new strategy focused on continuous improvement.
Our vision is to improve the lives of our community and provide excellence in healthcare through partnership and innovation. Our High Performance Culture will support everyone to be the best version of themselves by being true to our Trust vision, values and behaviours.
We welcome applications from colleagues from our local and neighbouring communities of all backgrounds and identities, who are currently under-represented within our region such as Black, Asian, Minority ethnic and those with disabilities.
The role will be working across a range of Dermatology conditions, primarily providing Outpatient care for those needing Phototherapy treatments. Phototherapy can be an effective alternative to drug therapy management, and as such, this can be a very satisfying specialty to work in.
Although this role is based within the Therapies Department, you will have the opportunity to build experience and in-depth knowledge in Dermatology through our excellent links with the Consultant team.
You will also receive support and training from our friendly Phototherapy team, who will ensure you can confidently reach your competencies to assess and treat patients independently. We actively support individual 'Continuing Professional Development' as part of our mission to deliver excellent patient care to all those using our services.
Applicants should be able to demonstrate a keen interest in Dermatology and be strongly motivated to deliver kind and compassionate care to this patient group.
Main duties of the job
* You will deliver a range of light therapy modalities including UV-A, UV-B, PUVA, and Iontophoresis, as well as the assessment of patients through patch testing; you will adjust the dosages as indicated to optimise treatment for each individual.
* You will work independently within the team under the supervision of the Team Leader to schedule and operate outpatient clinics effectively and efficiently, ensuring that safety is the highest priority.
* You will recognise and escalate any adverse reactions or problems without delay to senior clinicians to ensure that patient care remains safe and effective at all times.
* Be accountable for performing regular assessments on patient needs, to plan, implement and evaluate care delivery and be adaptable to changing health care requirements.
* You will be responsible for establishing and maintaining effective communication with patients, relatives, and carers to always ensure their involvement in the decisions about treatment, planning and the delivery of their care.
