Our client is a young woman with learning disabilities and complex health needs who is looking for personal assistants who can assist her to live independently at home with her parents.
When she is well, she is very sociable and enjoys going to cafés, the cinema, museums, shows and hanging out with friends. she likes to be out and about and enjoys using her tricycle on the seafront and in the park. When she is not well, she enjoys listening to stories, watching DVDs and appreciates companionship and someone to make sure she is as comfortable as possible.
You will be required to undertake duties such as assisting with personal care, meds admin, moving & handling with and without a hoist, supporting our client during prolonged myoclonus (shaking) episodes, first aid and light housework/cooking. You will also be required to support her with her communication programme (PODD), for which training will be given.
We are looking for a personal assistant who is respectful, fun, well organized and who is able to adapt to make the best of everyday, whether our client is well or not well. Experience of working with people with learning disabilities is a must. You will need to be caring and compassionate but also resilient and able to use your initiative.
Full induction and training will be provided along with shadowing shifts.

You will be trained to CQC standards to meet the needs of the client. Current care experience and 'already known to the client' will be valued. Unless specified elsewhere, previous care experience is not essential.
Essential Requirements for this Role:
- As you will be supporting our client in the community, it is essential that you are a driver and have a full, clean driving licence. For insurance purposes you will need to be aged over 25yrs old.
- This post is exempt under The Equality Act 2010 Schedule 9 Part 1 - there is a genuine occupational requirement to recruit female support workers only.
- An enhanced DBS disclosure is required for this vacancy (expense met by HomeCareDirect)
