Job Summary: The Logistics Operative will be responsible for managing the movement, distribution, and storage of steel products and materials within our workshop. This role is crucial to ensure the smooth and efficient operation of our logistics processes, maintaining high standards of safety and accuracy.
Key Responsibilities:
1.
Material Handling and Storage
Receive, unload, and store steel materials and products.
Ensure proper storage and organization of materials to maximize space and maintain order.
Conduct regular inventory checks and report discrepancies.
2.
Order Fulfillment:
Pick and prepare steel materials for orders according to specifications.
Ensure accurate and timely dispatch of orders to meet customer requirements.
Coordinate with the production team to prioritize and expedite orders as needed.
3.
Logistics Coordination:
Arrange and coordinate transportation for incoming and outgoing deliveries.
Monitor and track shipments to ensure timely delivery and resolve any logistical issues.
Communicate with suppliers, carriers, and customers regarding delivery schedules and status updates.
4.
Equipment Operation and Maintenance:
Operate forklifts, cranes, and other material-handling equipment safely and efficiently.
Perform routine maintenance and safety checks on equipment.
Report any equipment malfunctions or safety concerns to the supervisor.
5.
Health and Safety Compliance:
Adhere to all health and safety regulations and company policies.
Use personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
Participate in safety training and drills.
6.
Documentation and Reporting:
Maintain accurate records of inventory, deliveries, and shipments.
Complete necessary paperwork for orders, shipments, and inventory transactions.
Generate reports on logistics activities and performance metrics.
Qualifications:
Previous experience in a logistics or warehouse role, preferably within the steel or manufacturing industry.
A valid forklift Certificate is preferable, but not essential.
The ability to read drawings is preferable, but not essential.
Strong organizational and time-management skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Basic computer skills for inventory and logistics management systems.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift and move heavy materials regularly.
Prolonged periods of standing, walking, and operating machinery.
Ability to work in varying weather conditions within the workshop
