We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Quality Specialist to join our team at the Walls site in Gloucester. The primary responsibility of this role is to ensure the highest standards of quality and food safety by investigating incidents, reporting on incidents, trending on incidents, following up on corrective action plans and investigating complaints. The role will report to the Quality Systems Lead.
Responsibilities
* Incident Investigation: Conduct thorough investigations of quality-related incidents to determine root causes and implement corrective actions.
* Incident Reporting: Prepare detailed reports on incidents, including findings, conclusions, and recommendations for improvement.
* Trending Analysis: Analyze incident data to identify trends and patterns and provide insights to prevent future occurrences.
* Corrective & Preventative Action Plans: Follow up on corrective action plans to ensure timely and effective implementation.
* Complaint Investigation: Investigate customer complaints related to product quality, and work with relevant departments to resolve issues.
* Compliance: Ensure compliance with industry regulations, company policies, and quality standards.
* Continuous Improvement: Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance product quality and operational efficiency.
* Training: Provide training and support to staff on quality-related topics and best practices.
* Communication: Regular communication with multiple departments onsite and external central departments.
* Conducting Internal Audits: Conduct internal audits, identifying gaps and non-compliances and following through CAPA plans.
Scope of Role
This role will be local but with responsibility on occasions to represent the SU at European/Global forums or other external meetings.
Problem Solving
Bringing food safety and quality skills and problem-solving methodology into the factory.
Change
Implementing changes to ensure robust corrective & preventative action plans are implemented and followed through.
Minimum Requirements
* Competence in standard Microsoft applications.
* Some weekend / out of hours working.
* Occasional travel (UK and Europe).
* Educated to degree level; the job holder will have a strong technical background and understanding of food safety management requirements.
* Working knowledge of FSSC or BRC.
* Minimum of 2 years of experience in quality assurance or a similar role in the food industry.
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Experience of problem-solving methodology such as root cause analysis and 5 whys is highly desirable.
* Excellent communication and report-writing abilities.
* Knowledge of industry regulations and quality standards.
* Proficiency in quality management software and tools.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
* Energy: The ability to create and maintain a high level of appropriately directed activity, capacity to work hard, drive and stamina.
* Commitment: Belief in own job and its value to the organization, makes extra effort for the Company.
