SUSTAINABILITY OFFICER - INITIAL 2 MONTH CONTRACT - INSIDE IR35
One of Lorien's leading Public Sector Organisations is looking to bring on an experienced Sustainability Officer on a short-term project to define their Net Zero strategy.
Responsibilities:
1. Develop a Sustainability Plan which includes the 3 fundamental pillars of sustainability: social, economic, and environment.
2. The plan should include the Care Inspectorate's path to net zero in line with Government's expectations.
3. Review what the organisation currently has in place in terms of capturing data on carbon emissions, climate change, waste management, and procurement sustainability, and pull all of this together into a report.
4. Identify areas for development and create a sustainability action plan with short, medium, and longer-term goals/actions.
Qualifications:
1. Experience in a similar role, ideally within the public sector.
2. Proven track record of developing sustainability initiatives with measurable outcomes.
3. Highly effective communication skills to engage with stakeholders at all levels.
4. Strong analytical skills with attention to detail in reporting.
5. Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver results under tight deadlines.
6. Excellent negotiation and influencing skills.
7. Ability to give realistic advice, based on relevant, up-to-date, and verifiable information.
8. Able to work independently as well as collaboratively with a wide range of teams across the organisation.
Education:
1. Degree in Environmental Science or a related field.
2. Project management skills to lead sustainability initiatives.
