Position
An opportunity has arisen for a permanent Chief Audiologist based at University Hospital Ayr.
What You Will Do
NHS Ayrshire & Arran’s Audiology Service is looking to recruit a highly motivated, enthusiastic and experienced audiologist to take on the role of clinical lead for the Department at University Hospital Ayr. The successful candidate will have responsibility for the day-to-day running of the site along with participating in the clinical work of the Service and would benefit from having experience in one or more of the following areas of specialism: tinnitus, paediatrics, implantable devices, and complex adult rehabilitation. The role will be split with half of the working week dedicated to the oversight and leadership of the Service on this site and the remainder of the working week in clinical practice.
Knowledge, Training And/or Experience Required To Do The Job
This post is based at University Hospital Ayr but may require travel to other locations within Ayrshire & Arran on occasions. In addition to excellent communication skills, previous experience of working in a busy Audiology Service including a role in a supervisory capacity would be beneficial and will be viewed favourably.
Essential
* Audiology BSc or equivalent such as BAAT Parts 1&2 with NC Physiological Measurement.
* Postgraduate level education/qualification in an audiology specific discipline and/or business/leadership development.
* Current registration with RCCP or equivalent.
* Evidence of practice as an Audiologist since qualifying to include assessment and rehabilitation of hearing impaired individuals and one or more areas of advanced practice e.g. paediatrics, electrophysiology, tinnitus, etc.
* A positive attitude and an ability to work in a team as well as being able to make decisions when working single handed.
* Ability to supervise and manage staff.
* The ability to problem solve and use initiative.
* Evidence of working at a senior level within an Audiology Service either clinically/managerially or both.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
* Good understanding of information technology and its impact on health care.
* Evidence of Continuing Professional Development.
Desirable
* HC Physiological Measurement.
* Paediatric audiology experience.
* Attendance at specialist training seminars and courses for ERA, OAE, Paediatrics, Tinnitus, etc.
* Management qualification.
* Car owner/driver.
Hours
37 hours per week.
