The Ffestiniog and Welsh Highland Railways are two of the UK's most popular heritage railways, located in the heart of picturesque Snowdonia. Spooner's is our main catering outlet situated on Harbour Station in Porthmadog, delivering a high level of service throughout the day.
We are looking for an experienced Bartender & Cellar Person for Spooner's CAMRA award-winning bar.
We can offer you:
• £11.98 per hour rising to £12.64 per hour from 1st April 2025
• Seasonal contract from 1st March 2025 to 2nd January 2026
• Full time hours; approx. 40 hours per week with some seasonal variance

Key duties will include managing our beer cellar, ordering bar stock and serving customers at the bar, handling money and clearing tables. Spooner’s works a team so candidates will be expected to help their colleagues working on the café counter or in the kitchen if required. Experience of cellar management and working a busy bar is essential for this post.
The successful candidate will thrive working in a fast-paced, buzzing environment. The ideal candidate will be flexible and able to work shifts over days, evenings and weekends. Hours available to suit candidate, up to 40 hours per week over 5 shifts.
Core Skills:
• Experience of working in real ale bars
• A thorough knowledge of Cellar Management
• An interest in the drinks industry and knowledge of Cask Ales, Wine and Cocktails
• Team player
• Good communication skills
• The ability to work cleanly and tidily
• A basic knowledge and understanding of food and kitchen hygiene is desirable
• The ability to speak Welsh would be an advantage as would knowledge of the railways, their passengers and the local economic market.
