The successful applicant would be offered the post subject to being accepted onto the University of Huddersfield Physiotherapy Apprentice degree programme commencing September 2025 until completion in August 2028.
Airedale NHS Foundation Trust will provide a workplace mentor to provide guidance, support, and knowledge in the Physiotherapy profession. The post holder is required to work as part of the Community Rehabilitation Team. Having a driving licence and access to a car is essential for this post.
Off the job training will include academic study and clinical placements. It is a requirement that the post holder commits to undertake the formal education of the course and successfully complete all components of the training programme within the required period. Failure to complete the Physiotherapy Apprentice course will lead to termination of the fixed term contract.

Main duties of the job
An Apprentice Physiotherapy Practitioner uses their developing Physiotherapy knowledge and skills to:
* Prioritise, plan, and deliver clinical case work with support and supervision of a registered physiotherapist.
* Apply evidence-based knowledge and skills relating to rehabilitation.
* Work in partnership with patients, carers, the MDT, and wider statutory, private, and voluntary sector services.
* Work with team members to ensure the effective functioning of the team.
* Participate in quality improvements to develop the Community Rehabilitation Team.
* Contribute to student training and development.
In pursuing these duties, the post holder will ensure compliance with the NHS Constitution and be familiar with the NHS England Guidance ‘Understanding the new NHS’.
Person specification
Qualifications
* GCSE English language and Mathematics at grade 4 or above, or grade C or above if awarded under the previous GCSE grading scheme, or equivalent.
* Plus one from the list of criteria listed on the job description.
* Will complete a level 6-degree qualification.
* Courses relevant to physiotherapy/health care.
Experience
* Experience in use of IT applications.
* Experience of working independently.
* Work shadowing/work experience.
* Experience of service development.
* Experience of working as a Therapy/Dietetic Assistant within a Therapy Service.
* Experience in following physiotherapy treatment plans and have completed goal setting.
Knowledge
* Knowledge of the impact illness and disability have on function.
* Knowledge of Physiotherapy interventions.
* Knowledge of the roles of other professionals and the principles of partnership working.
* Knowledge to promote and support equality and value diversity.
* Knowledge of ANHSFT as an organisation.
* Knowledge of standardised and non-standardised assessments and treatments relevant to physiotherapy.
* Knowledge of relevant national and local legislation in physiotherapy.
Skills
