Are you interested in joining a team that is going to revolutionise how counter terrorism police operate in the UK? Counter Terrorism Policing (CTP) is establishing a brand-new Data Science Unit, based in Manchester, which will play a key role in supporting the national effort to disrupt the terrorist threat and keep people safe. The team are recruiting for a variety of roles, including the position of Solution Architect. This role represents an exciting opportunity for the successful candidate to get in on the ground floor and help shape a new department, which will deliver a range of pioneering services to the counter terrorism policing network and key partners, including:
* Delivering advanced data analytics support to operational teams, corporate leaders and partner agencies. This will regularly involve working alongside intelligence analysts and digital experts nationally.
* Working with operational partners, industry, and academia to produce dedicated products intended to address some of the most challenging problems in national security.
* Leading experimentation and prototyping for new digital and analytical tooling which will evolve CTP’s national technical capabilities and core ICT.
* Leading and representing CTP in policing, national security, cross-government, industry and academic partnerships on advanced data analytic capabilities and emerging technologies.
As a Solution Architect, the successful candidate would be expected to be responsible for the design and documentation of the architecture at the application layer. They will support the Business and other areas of NCTPHQ by translating project requirements, identifying and developing strategically aligned technical solutions, in conjunction with Managed Service Providers, third parties and partner agencies. They will develop solution architecture models for projects and plans to drive forward the strategy, taking advantage of opportunities to improve business performance. They will provide expert advice on Counter Terrorism Policing solutions and how they fit together architecturally across the organisation.
In addition to technical expertise, we are also looking for proactive team players who have a real passion for innovation and developing best practice for the public sector.

* Experience of high-level solution design, providing strategic solutions to minimise risk and manage down complexity.
* Knowledge and experience of Servers/blades environments including network connectivity, networked storage, virtualised environments, Oracle, SQL server, & other collaborative and security products.
* Experience of working within an enterprise architecture environment in a complex medium to large sized organisation, ensuring that technical projects align against the organisation strategy, architecture and governance objectives.
* Able to communicate technical information to a non-technical audience.
