Tosupport the Financial Controller in ensuring effective use of financialresources in pursuit of agreed Divisional and Corporate goals.
To support theFinancial Controller in budget setting, financial planning, forecasting,monthly monitoring and reporting within corporate standards and timetables.

This is a full time role ( hrs per week, Mon-Fri) based at Warwick Hospital CV34 5BW.
Main duties of the job
1. Tosupport the Financial Controller, provide financial information, advice andsupport to the Company Finance Director, Chief Executive and other divisionalstaff
2. Tomeet regularly with budget managers to ensure that the financial position ofthe division and the Company is understood and that any potential financialproblems are identified early enough for corrective action to be taken
3. Thepost holder must be capable of influencing the budget managers to ensureachievement of the divisional financial objectives and balancing the budget
4. Tohave responsibility for some aspects of budgetary management as delegated bythe Financial Controller, including monitoring of performance and providingadvice on corrective action as necessary. To take a lead role in the annualbudget setting process for delegated departments/sub-divisional areas withinthe division
5. Toundertake where relevant lead responsibility for the implementation andmonitoring of recharging mechanisms to improve budgetary control
6. Toensure that the approval to recruit process is adhered to and ensure thatestablishment database is up to date
7. Thepostholder will lead the month end close down process for the team, accordingto timescales and ensure that robust draft financial information is availablefor the Financial Controller to review.

Toassist budget managers in identifying and achieving cost improvement targets,income generation targets and ensuring value for money, undertaking reviews ofall existing practices with the aim of improving efficiency
Provideregular financial advice and support to senior managers and the head ofdepartments on sometimes complex and sometimes confrontational issues. Creatingperformance, monitoring and correction reports where appropriate to allowinformed decision making to take place
Toprovide the Financial Controller with corporate information necessary to enablecorporate financial reporting. This will include explanation of significantvariance movements for inclusion in the corporate Executive Finance andPerformance Committee and South Warwickshire University NHS Foundation Trust (SWFT)Board report
Toensure that for the areas of responsibility as delegated by the FinancialController, budget setting, financial planning, forecasting, monthly monitoringand reporting to divisions are done to the required standards and timetables
Tosupport the Financial Controller in the development of new costing andbudgeting methodologies to provide information for both managerial andcommercial purposes
Tosupport the Financial Controller to review the division costs relative tonational norms and other provider units and establishing verification ofsignificant variations
Tojointly develop a budget holder manual with other Deputy Finance Managers andincrease the financial capability of management teams through the provision offinancial awareness training and continuous support for senior managers andservice leads within the division
Participatein ad-hoc working groups on particular issues as required, representing thefinance department
Toprovide input as required to the Companys statutory financial reports
Toensure that the Companys standing financial instructions and codes ofprocedures are adhered to at all times
Towork with the Financial Controller and Director of Finance to provide robustfinancial risk evaluations of business cases, service developments
Thepostholder will work with the Financial Controller to ensure that any statutoryreturns are completed and also begin to learn about the cashflow implicationsof the financial position
Thepostholder requires expert knowledge and experience of all finance systems andmust be able to interrogate financial information systems and manage the datato provide managers with high quality and timely information fordecision-making. Ability to use experience and knowledge to identify income andexpenditure trends, and divisional year-end positions
Createssometimes complex spreadsheets using advanced spreadsheet skills to provide adhoc costings/information to managers. Uses other software packages for specificpurposes database
Toensure that own professional skills and knowledge are regularly updated throughmandatory continuing professional development (CPD)
Plansown workload whilst ensuring that staff meet financialtimetables/priorities/deadlines set by Financial Controller
Thepostholder is required to deputise for the Financial Controller as required
