Education Support Assistant Term Time, Permanent (11 hours per week over 36 weeks per year) Ayr Campus (The job holder will be required to work across all campuses, as required) £26,957 per annum, pro rata Reference: REQ00941 As an Education Support Assistant, you will support students on Non-Advanced (L4 - L6) and Advanced (HNC/D) level courses with additional learning needs to enable the development of transferable skills, reduce barriers to participation and encourage independence. You will also deliver a full range of learning support activities to assist students who require adaptation to their learning environment. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, both oral and written, are required in this position to motivate and engage with students, College staff and any external partners where appropriate. You will provide direct in class and out of class support for students/groups including daytime and evening class students. This may include scribing (by hand or word processing), note taking, reading, prompting, and proofreading amongst other methods of support. Encouraging and supporting students in the use of assistive technologies and providing demonstrations is an essential part of the role, in addition to providing support to students with complex needs during break times to safeguard health, safety & wellbeing. You will be qualified to HNC level or equivalent or will have relevant experience applicable to the role. A demonstrable knowledge of current developments and support for learning and an awareness of relevant legislation and government strategies to promote learning and equality for students with additional support needs. Please note hours may include covering evening classes. A comprehensive experience of providing support to young people and/or adults with additional support needs is required (preferably within an education or related environment).
