Estimator - Civil Engineering
£50,000 plus package

We are working with family-run, leading civil engineering firm based in Staffordshire. Specialising in infrastructure, groundworks, and associated building services.
You will be involved in costing of infrastructure and groundwork projects across the business, measuring and valuing all work related to client enquiries to prepare detailed, reliable tender submissions.
You’ll collaborate with Construction Managers to define the infrastructure strategy for new projects and set cost structures for the groundworkers, including developing a consistent approach to costing, estimating, and payment systems.
Additionally, you’ll partner with the operations team and Engineers to deliver cost-effective and practical infrastructure solutions, ensuring designs support successful project outcomes. You’ll also contribute to the wider Commercial team, sharing expertise to enhance their skills in infrastructure cost management.
Key Responsibilities
* Review tender enquiry documentation to ensure all necessary information is available for pricing.
* Prepare and submit tender quotations in line with client specifications.
* Develop estimates and tender proposals based on project documentation.
* Evaluate quotes from subcontractors and suppliers to meet tender needs.
* Communicate with clients to request any additional information if required.
* Calculate costs for materials, labour, plant, transport, and equipment hire.
* Prepare detailed tender breakdowns for internal approval.
* Address client queries related to submitted tenders.
* Prepare handover documentation for secured projects.
* Present finalized tenders to senior leadership prior to submission.
Required Skills & Experience
* Minimum of 3 years’ experience in Groundworks/Civil Engineering within an estimating capacity.
* Proven ability to manage tenders from start to finish with a thorough and decisive approach.
* Strong commercial awareness and knowledge, with the ability to influence decisions effectively.
* A focus on maximising profits while applying value engineering principles.
* Excellent communication, organisational, and interpersonal skills.
