IT Infrastructure Support Technician
Salary £28,000 to £35,000 per annum plus benefits
Main Purpose of the Job:
Provide day-to-day technical support for corporate and customer IT infrastructure. Support internal users, both in the office and remotely, as well as selected customer equipment. Responsibilities include installing, configuring, and troubleshooting hardware, operating systems, and applications, along with assisting in server administration and handling technical issues as they arise.
Key Responsibilities:
* Build and configure laptops and PCs based on internal and customer requirements, ensuring compliance with IT security policies and standards.
* Ensure smooth operation and patching of desktop environments, including monitoring performance and managing hardware/software updates.
* Manage and support onsite A/V equipment, including video conferencing and projectors.
* Follow departmental change control processes and procedures.
* Assist with customer IT equipment and network administration.
* Participate in the 24/7 on-call rota, responding to emergencies via remote access or site visits.
* Support IT infrastructure (storage, virtual environments, email, backups) and security infrastructure (antivirus, patch management, web filtering).
* Manage telephony systems, including desk phone installations.
* Maintain asset inventory and software compliance for all IT equipment.
Additional Duties:
* Assist with CyberEssentials audits and ISMS policy development.
* Continuously evaluate and improve desktop support processes, recommending best practices.
* Conduct research and make recommendations on IT products and services.
Skills and Experience Required:
* HND/Degree in Computer Science or equivalent, or 5+ years’ experience in a 100+ user environment.
* Strong technical skills in IT hardware and business applications.
* Proficient in Windows 10/11 environments and Windows Server 2019/2022 administration.
* Solid understanding of IT security, Microsoft Exchange, and email services.
* Experience in 1st/2nd line support roles.
* Ability to achieve Security Clearance (SC/DV).
Desirable Skills:
* Knowledge of Group Policies, Active Directory, Endpoint Central, VMware, and Mitel phone systems.
* Experience with mobile device management and Blackberry UEM.
