If so, the Sussex Orthopaedic Treatment Centre is a purpose-built elective orthopaedic centre, which opened in 2006 and is now part of the University Hospitals Sussex NHS Foundation Trust. We carry out approximately 6,500 procedures per year and undertake both minor, intermediate, and complex orthopaedic work.
We are currently looking for enthusiastic Band 2 Theatre Health Care Assistants to join our friendly, forward-thinking team. This is a varied role encompassing Theatres, patient admission, and discharge areas.

2. Check operating rooms to ensure correct levels of stock for each operating list and record any shortages of supply.
3. Empty the large trolley when it returns from CSSD with tins of instruments and sterile extras and check them off against the supply list, report discrepancies, being aware of what is needed for the day ahead.
4. Assist the scrub nurses and operating department practitioners to prepare and lay up the trolleys for the operating lists.
5. Perform individual handholding support when needed for patients undergoing local anaesthesia, often when patients are distressed and emotional.
6. Report any changes in patient’s condition to nursing staff and/or ODPs.
7. Assist nursing staff with day surgery patients undergoing pre-operative local or general anaesthesia including pulse monitoring, oxygen saturation, and ECG monitoring.
