Job overview
As the Senior Pharmacist – Anticoagulation/Stroke you will work across both the anticoagulation and stroke services at Nottingham University Hospitals. You will join the pharmacy stroke team, working alongside the Specialist Pharmacists for Stroke and Chief Pharmacy Technician – Stroke to provide a consistent, high level pharmacy service to the Stroke inpatient wards.
Within the anticoagulation service you will work with the Specialist Pharmacist – Anticoagulation and the anticoagulation nurses and clinicians to support patients on anticoagulation therapy.
Both elements of the job will also give the post holder the opportunity to be involved with quality improvement, monitoring of medication incidents and governance and education and training to other both qualified staff and student members.
This is an exciting job giving the opportunity for multidisciplinary working, providing a service to both inpatients and outpatients at Nottingham University Hospitals, and gaining specialist knowledge in the areas of both anticoagulation and stroke.
The job role is based at Queens Medical Centre, but there may be occasions where the post holder is required to work at the City Hospital campus as per the service needs. The post holder may also be required to work clinically on other wards within the integrated care directorate as per service needs.

Person specification
Training & Qualifications
* B.Pharm / BSc (Pharmacy) or MPharm
* GPhC registered
* Diploma/MSc in clinical pharmacy or other appropriate post graduate qualification
* Independent Prescribing Qualification, or willing to complete with 12 months
* Training in or experience of prescribing in anticoagulation use and dosing
Experience
* Wide previous experience (post registration) in hospital pharmacy
* Broad knowledge base of clinical areas.
* Experience of day to day supervision and assisting in training of pre-registration pharmacists and/or technicians.
* Understanding of issues affecting the NHS
* Evidence of project work completed
* Experience of working within stroke or anticoagulation specialities.
* Experience of working in outpatient clinic
* Experience in undertaking, and reporting/presenting audit / research work at local (Trust) level.
* Experience working with patients with speech and swallowing difficulties
