A rare and exciting vacancy has arisen in our award winning Secure CAMHS team for a psychologist who is passionate about working with complex young people.The Secure CAMHS service has an incredible national reputation, with accreditations from QNIC and the National Autistic Society. You will be joining a diverse psychological therapies team, consisting of practitioner psychologists, arts therapists, specialist psychological practitioners and assistant psychologists.We work with a number of professionals, providing safe, containing environments and interventions to help people understand themselves, their mental health and presenting behaviour.The secure CAMHS service has a strong multidisciplinary ethos, in which psychological interventions are respected as central to young people’s recovery. This role offers the opportunity for an interesting and varied job plan, including substantial opportunities for leadership and service development, complex clinical work and contributing to the national network. Secure CAMHS has three inpatient wards (2 medium mixed-gender secure wards and 1 female low secure ward) with a capacity for 13 young people, aged 12 – 18.The pathway also includes Youth FIRST, aspecialist community child and adolescent mental health service for high-risk young people with complex needs in the West Midlands region.You will provide leadership and specialist clinical input across the Secure CAMHS inpatient service.The successful candidate will have extensive experience of working with children and young people with mental health presentations, psychological difficulties, neurodiversity and complex needs and risks. Working alongside the consultant psychologist lead, the successful candidate will provide leadership to the psychology team, contributing to a culture which is psychologically safe and promotes staff wellbeing, therefore ensuring efficient and effective care for service users.
An interest and experience of developing services will be an advantage. Leadership and service development experience is desirable, as well as managing and supervising a range of psychological professionals. You will require good organisational, interpersonal and communication skills in addition to therapeutic expertise.
