Description St John’s Cathedral Catholic Primary School Clerk to the Governors required for an immediate start Closing date: Applications will be reviewed on receipt and interviews arranged accordingly Job start date: As soon as possible Hours: TBA Salary range: Dependent on experience, starting from £13/hour We are currently seeking a friendly, positive, and organised Clerk to the Governors to support our Governing Body. This is a key role providing administrative and procedural advice to the Governing Body, reporting to the Chair of Governors Primarily the clerk is responsible for preparing agendas in consultation with the headteacher and the Chair of Governors, taking and writing up the minutes at Governors’ meetings, and distributing documentation and other information to the Governing Body. The Clerk will also need to become familiar with the DfE Governance Handbook and provide accurate advice to Governors as necessary. There are usually 6 meetings of the full Governing Body per year and attendance to committee meetings will be required. Willingness to attend evening meetings is essential. We are looking for a Clerk to the Governors who: Is a good communicator, reliable, efficient, and well organised Has a strong background of minute taking Has excellent IT skills using Microsoft Office Has the ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality Works well on their own and as part of a team A patient, calm and approachable manner The Post Includes: Record keeping • Preparation of and circulating agendas and associated paperwork • Managing governor documents • Attending meetings and taking minutes • Liaising with Governors and working with the Chair in managing the smooth and efficient running of the Governing Body Working collaboratively with the Chair of Governors, Headteacher and Bursar Meetings Follow This Pattern: There are a mixture of evening and daytime meetings which the Clerk would need to attend. A full governor meeting at the start of each term 5.00pm to 7.00pm. • A full governor meeting at the end of each term 5.00pm to 7.00pm. Two day- time Finance and Personnel meetings each term 2.00pm -4.00pm • There are, from time to time, other sub-committee meetings which the Clerk must attend This general pattern repeats each of the three terms each year. Good time management is essential for this role, and we may be able to provide a Laptop so that the Clerk can work at home.
