We are excited to present this unique opportunity for a post FY2 doctor who can demonstrate previous substantive employment within NHS Emergency Medicine.
There are two positions available: one for a 12 month fixed-term period and another 8 month vacancy to cover maternity leave.
This is a chance to develop your clinical skills in Emergency Medicine and explore areas that hold special interest for the candidate. This post will allow the successful appointee the ability to ‘add something extra’ to their CV and would be particularly suitable for someone who wishes to take a “professional gap year”.
The successful candidate will be fully involved in all aspects of the work of the department under the supervision of the consultants and will attend to the initial assessment and treatment of the patients attending the department across the spectrum of Emergency Medicine.
The post holder will participate in the Education and Training, Clinical Audit, Clinical Risk Management and the Clinical Governance activities of the Department and Trust ensuring full and proper records are completed for this purpose.

We have proximity to the mountains of the Lake District and major trunk motorways ensure a regular influx of trauma patients. The unit is a trauma + unit in the Northern Trauma Network. We have admitting rights for Major trauma patients with chest and head injuries who do not require MTC level care. The department accepts patients from various helicopter emergency medical schemes and has its own landing pad!
