Finance - Shaping Wiltshire's Future
Are you a financial expert ready to make a difference in housing delivery? We're looking for a Principal Accountant to provide strategic financial planning that directs our housing initiatives and ensures the success of key housing projects.
As Principal Accountant, you'll provide essential financial planning that supports the delivery of the Council's priorities, supporting over 5,300 existing and new social housing initiatives.
You’ll oversee capital accounting and financing for the Housing Revenue Account (HRA), the general fund housing stock, and the Council's property company, Stone Circle. With responsibility for maintaining a £30M HRA Business Plan for 2025/26, you'll forecast the impact of investments in housing stock, ensure value for money, and design and monitor the delivery of a 30-year plan.
This role also involves managing housing rent setting, reviewing tenant service charges for fairness, and preparing income budgets for the Council's Medium Term Financial Strategy. Working closely with senior leadership, you'll provide high-quality financial analysis and expert advice to shape informed decisions.
Your extensive experience in housing finance within a local authority setting will allow you to hit the ground running, bringing financial expertise, strategic vision, and a commitment to making a lasting impact on housing delivery across Wiltshire.
The interview will require you to give a presentation on What are the risks facing Wiltshire Council and what approaches should be taken to mitigate them?
