Job Description
Our OEM client based in Peterborough seeks an Electronic System Engineer to contract in the European Machine Systems team. You will be involved in the design and development of cutting-edge machine control system technology controls for construction machinery. As one of the team, your focus will be the development of Electromechanical Control Systems using quantitative methods to provide solutions.
The client is looking for the ability to:
* Diagnose electronic, software and hardware controller and sensor issues, on development machines, test bed, bench and dSPACE HIL.
* Manage technical controls and calibration lead for engine: temperature, pressure, cam, crank sensors.
* Be involved in the electronic installation appraisal of engine ECU for machine sign off.
Brief responsibilities:
* Solicit and capture system requirements and associated interfaces for new and current products.
* Identify and develop components, systems, and interfaces to meet customer needs.
* Define system architectures, input and output requirements, controller interfaces and schematic creation/development.
* Contribute to FMEA, functional safety and product compliance reviews.
* Plan, develop and execute validation activities to mitigate project risk and ensure solutions are verified and validated for market introduction.
* Identify and successfully resolve issues found during product development, assembly, and postproduction implementation.
* Conduct control system tuning/calibration activities on test bench and/or on test bed/machine to achieve desired system performance.
* Conduct sub-system FMEAs, documenting potential failure modes, identifying, and completing design and validation actions and managing subsequent updates.
* Plan and execute verification and validation testing for electronics/control system software in SiL, HiL or on-test bed or development machines.
* Troubleshoot and resolve electronics/control system issues encountered during engine or power system running.
Your background as a suitable contractor:
* Diagnosing electronic, software and hardware controller and sensor issues, on development machines, test bed, bench and dSPACE HIL.
* Managing technical controls and calibration lead for engine: temperature, pressure, cam, crank sensors.
* Be involved in the electronic installation appraisal of engine ECU for machine sign off.
* Experience with Vector tools, D Space and Canape for example.
* Experience level three years plus in Automotive, Off-Highway, machine/engine/EV control system development (or comparable automotive, marine or military vehicle control systems).
* Three to six years’ experience of diesel engines with a strong technical background primarily in construction equipment, automotive.
* Essential experience in working with diesel engines.
